My name is Amy M. White. I am a mom, widow, writer, student, professor, and historian.
I like to keep busy; I am typically behind my desk, typing away or reading. If I'm not, I would prefer to be outside with my son, Liam. We enjoy exploring new places, traveling when possible, and hanging out.
During the winter months, I enjoy building models of buildings or book nooks, as well as just sitting at home reading or painting.
Writing has always been my escape, just as reading has become over the years. I began writing my first book after college while working in a daycare as a school-aged teacher, and they loved hearing stories and adventures. So I began writing "Beneath the Crust" and reading sections of it as I completed them. Years passed, I became a mother, and my son now loves to hear my stories. They are sometimes serious and sometimes silly. I recently wrote my first non-fiction book and look forward to writing more histories but writing fiction will always hold a special place for my mind to escape.
Life throws curveballs at you, but I have found a sense of purpose in academics and writing, which I have pursued relentlessly as an adult. Through my academic career, my writing evolved and improved, and when I utilized that foundation with my creativity, I found extreme joy in bringing my stories and characters to life.
Most recently, I published my first nonfiction book, based on years of genealogical research and academic study. I would have to say it is probably the proudest piece of writing I have ever completed.
