In 2008, the US economy capsized under the pressure of a financial crisis called the Subprime Mortgage Crisis. The US was experiencing a housing boom, and creditors began giving out high risk loans at high interest rates to people with poor credit, thus high risk loans, aka Subprime Mortgages. As the burdens of these mortgages began to fail, the weight of these financial failures toppled the US Economy.
